Edward Francis Howarth was born on 2 September 1936 in Manchester to Helena Mary Kane, age 20 and George Howarth age 25.  They lived at 63 Richmond Grove, Manchester.

His brother Geoffrey George was born on 11 October 1937 when Edward was 1 year old.

His mother Helena Mary passed away on 21st September 1945 in Manchester at the ago of 29 years.

Edward married Olwyn in September 1960 when he was 23 years old.  His best man was Alan Watts.  Bridesmaids were Pauline Watts, .......

Their first daughter Caroline Jane was born on 29th April 1966 at Altrincham Maternity Hospital.

Their second daughter Joanne Wendy was born on 10th January 1968 at Wythenshawe Hospital.

Edward's father George passed away on 17th September 1977 in Wilmslow at the age of 66.
